Recently COMDA celebrated its 45th anniversary, and understandably it has left some of us a little bit nostalgic. As we prepared our celebrations and looked back on a lot of important milestones, it became apparent that despite our many changes, much has remained the same. Many of the products that you see today have evolved from early incarnations but their essence remains unchanged.
Look at our caps, for example. Some of our earliest catalogues include different versions and different styles. Fast forward to 2018 and caps are still a staple of the promotional products industry. Over the years, cap styles have changed. For example, a popular hat in our ‘Canadian Advertising Corner’ program from the 1980’s was the “Great Gatsby”.
This was a rounded flat cap with a small stiff brim in front, a style that is less popular now. Today the title of most popular caps on the market has been taken over by the Flat Bill Snapback Cap. The warmth and comfort of the flat cap have been replaced by the functionality and adaptability of the wide brim, and snap closure.
