A company's logo stands as a timeless symbol of its identity and values. Beyond a visual representation of the goods and services a company provides to the public, a logo transcends language barriers and speaks directly to the hearts and minds of customers. In light of our recent 50th anniversary celebrations, we will delve into the evolution of our visual identity by looking at the different decisions and inspirations that have influenced the transformation of our logo throughout time.
1970s & 1980s
COMDA was founded in 1973, and back then we were an exclusive distributor to the automotive industry, giving us our name as COMDA derives from “Complete Dealer Aid”. Our first visual representation depicts our humble beginnings with a simple block letter design that reads “COMDA SERVICES LIMITED” all capitalized with a uniform font. From there on, our logo evolved to include a red maple leaf at the center of the “o” in COMDA to symbolize that we are a proudly Canadian company. At the time, we only serviced the Canadian market and we believed it was important to reflect our heritage in our logo.
1990s & 2000s
During the 90’s we moved away from including the full company name in our branding and shifted towards using an abbreviation as part of the logo. The CAC Line logo, which was first introduced in the early 90s, stood for Comda Advertising Connections and it was the first time the company incorporated “advertising” into the branding. The second part of the 90s saw the development of one of our most iconic logos with the addition of the “honeycomb” next to the words “COMDA Advertising Group”. The honeycomb is filled with symbolism as at first sight we can see the pattern is formed through the connection of “C’s”. C is the first letter of our name, but it also symbolizes our customers and how we can help them connect with their audiences.
2010 - Present
The concept of connecting audiences and the role that promotional products play in facilitating that connection is a huge inspiration behind our “chain link” logo from the 2010s. This logo combines the previous iterations by taking the letter format of the earlier logos and applying it to a new chain link concept. The logo symbolizes COMDA’s products' ability to link businesses to their customers and keep them connected. In the chain link, we can also appreciate the letters CAC with our traditional blue and yellow color scheme. As we enter a digital era, and focus more of our resources on creating positive online experiences for our customers, a new version of the logo was created which includes “.COM” as part of the design. The quote “Your Promotional Product Experts” was added to provide some context for our work.

From the bold, iconic designs of the past, to the sleek and modern aesthetics of today, our logos have mirrored the changing times and trends, while always keeping our brand's essence intact.
