So after hours of browsing, you have finally chosen the perfect promo product for your next marketing campaign and now you must customize your imprint. What is the imprint area? Will all the information you want to include fit? Will your logo and chosen fonts be legible? We have put together a quick guide to help you make an imprint that will have your brand buzzing!
The imprint area is arguably the most important part of any promotional product as it is ultimately the place on the item where your logo will be showcased. For products where you are able to select an imprint area, choosing where to print your information is crucial for the success of your promotional campaign. If your name and logo are not placed in the best suited location they will not receive sufficient exposure, decreasing the advertising potential of the product. The main objective of the imprint area is to maximize visibility, and thus increase the likelihood of creating an impression on the recipient.
Another important component that ensures your information is seen by the public is the size of the imprint area. The size of the imprint area is primarily determined by the size of the product itself, as well as the texture and material of it. As these things vary from product to product, we are not able to offer a universal imprint area for all items, and must instead designate a space based on these limitations. It is not always possible to loop behind or before the imprint area, as the machinery used to imprint the products requires the space to operate. Additionally from a production stance point, in order for us to maintain our standards in printing, we must set forth certain guidelines that allow us to achieve accurate imprints more consistently.
With the imprint area being limited, this means you must think about the information you want to include in your imprint as well as fonts and point sizes to be used. Although you may, for example, choose two different fonts for your imprint, one may not be as legible and will affect the reception of the product and furthermore the effectiveness of the advertisement. Likewise, font size matters as you want your message to stand out and be easily understood. You should only include necessary information, and refrain from making your imprint look busy. If you include so much information that the size of the font is difficult to read, it will defeat the purpose of the promotion.
In situations where your logo cannot be included due to legibility issues or space limitations, you can still include your business name or contact information in plain text (check your branding guidelines). In these situations our production team will always provide alternatives in order to prevent your logos from being cut off, smudged or printed inconsistently. Virtual proofs are available on all orders so you can ensure all customization is done to your liking. If you have any questions, or need help making an imprint our experts are ready to assist!
